Scope and content

Letter to Father Hayes from M. Deegan, Irish Land Commission, in response to a letter written by Father Hayes regarding the land holding occupied by Ellen and Patrick English at Glenpaudeen, County Tipperary. The Commission states that they have not received any payment of annuities for the land since 1931. In 1939-40, Patrick English denied that he was liable to pay and so new warrants were issued against Ellen English. The commission has determined that the Englishes have no intention of paying anything and unless a substantial payment is made at once, the proceedings will continue.
