Letter to Canon Hayes from Fr. Mark Mimnagh, posted at the time to Hicksville, New York. Mimnagh writes that: he heard from Frank Lyddy and Stephen Rynne that Canon Hayes had been in the hospital for a check-up; Lyddy has filled him in on all of the latest news regarding Muintir na Tíre; he has now met some of Canon Hayes' Boston friends; and that his own speech to a meeting of the United Irish Counties was described in the Gaelic Echo as 'electrifying a large Irish audience.' Mimnagh says that 'America is in a very generous mood at this time' and that 'Muintir should have a plan for industry and this might be our chance.' He concludes by noting that they had to fire the secretary in Longford due to him causing 'a bit of trouble on the Christmas card project', and that 'Stephen and Alice don't see through the Freemason influence in the [National Farmers' Association]. Do not try to convince them... ...They are really great people and can be very influential for Muintir. They are just overbroadminded.'
