"Letter from Desmond Ryan to Síghle Bairéad, enclosing a copy of a broadcast he made in relation to the founding of Scoil Éanna. He states that the story about financial difficulties could certainly be true if it were after 1910 but not before. Denis Gwynn states that Pearse told him that Pearse put £100 towards the school, as well as a large sum from friends of his ""whose hearts were pat with mine"". He suggests to her not to take any notice of articles in the papers. He states that there was a definite reference to her father in a financial statement made by Pearse on the eve of his death, but that his assets certainly did not cover his liabilities. He says that the statements are with Daniel Maher, and that he is of the opinion that the debts had been settled privately in 1917 from the National Aid fund."
