Scope and content
Letter from A T Lucas, Árd-Mhúsaem na hÉireann, Sráid Chill Dara, Baile Átha Cliath 2, to Ciarán Bairéad, Beechmount House, Turloughmore, County Galway, apologising for his delay in replying. He had been in Claremorris recording a horizontal mill at Cloonfad, the last of its kind in Ireland owned by John Gannon. He comments on the material that he has sent them. He feels that the sundial from Tuam is the best he had seen. He comments that the maker, Royan, must have been been a foreigner, and wonders about the background of these men. He is also interested with the thistle tongs and the salmon spears. He gets many of the spears through their impounding in courts around the country.
