Text of a lecture by Father Hayes about the history of Muintir na Tíre in the 16 years since its first guild was founded in Tipperary, and about the previous six years since the founding meeting of Muintir na Tíre in March 1931. Father Hayes talks about the process that led to the abandonment of the original form of Muintir na Tíre in 1934 in favour of adopting a constitution in which its organisation was to be based upon the parish model. He notes the revisions to the constitution made in 1949 and the increased use of the term 'Parish Guild' rather than 'Parochial Guild'. He notes that there are 330 guilds in operation in 25 of the 26 counties, plus County Tyrone in the Six Counties, and describes the various publications produced by Muintir na Tíre.
