He states that one of the best ways to cure city unemployment would be to stop 'the abnormal influx of country youth to the towns' and summarises his suggestions for doing so as outlined in his lecture 'Youth on the land' [see P134/12/1/2/10/29 and P134/12/1/2/10/90]. He apologises for mentioning Muintir na Tíre's work too often 'but I believe that the only solution for many rural problems is local effort', and implores priests in each parish to bring people together for their religious, social, and economic life.
