Scope and content
Transcripts and reproductions of six letters found in the Kemper Papers, five of which were written between 1793 and 1798. Per the Cincinnati Historical Society, 'The earliest letters are from Ireland, written to Jane Rogers Fulton (Mrs. David R. Kemper’s mother) after her emigration to America. These present highly interesting pictures of Irish life of that time, including references to local wars and rebellions.’ A sixth letter is written from Francis Thompson in County Monaghan to his uncle David in Cincinnati in 1833. Also present are Kerby A. Miller’s brief notes on Francis Thompson, and a copy of the Cincinnati Historical Society’s introduction to the Kemper family papers.
