Scope and content
Materials pertaining to the application that was to be filed by Kazin Peke against the Republic of Turkey (referred to internally within the Kurdish Litigation Project as Case 193 and assigned to Michelle Morris as lead) regarding the burning of his home and property by security forces in Adana on 12 January 1995. No progress was made beyond the initial emergency application as the legal representatives were unable to make further contact with the applicant, apparently due to fear of persecution. Peke was a member of HADEP (People's Democracy Party) and felt that this intimidation and harassment was because of his involvement with the party. The file consists of the emergency application filed on 11 July 1995, including Peke’s witness statement and letter authorising Kevin Boyle and Françoise Hampson as his representatives, and Boyle’s letter of 25 January 1996 informing the Commission that further contact with the applicant is unlikely.
