Letter from John Ormsby, Lakeland, County Mayo, to Adam Ormsby, 13 Charlemont St., Dublin, in which he refers to a mistake he has made in the rental sent to Adam. "I forgot to include in it, a denomination of land called the Bearloughs that are part of the lands purchased from Lord Lorton ... £1889.6s.7d. the exact yearly rent of the lands purchased from Lord Lorton ... I am not sure of the profit rent that Owen had out of these lands ... I cannot tell you where Lord Lorton's lease is, I know nothing of any of the papers, unless they are in the desk". He also refers to "The election ended Saturday, the Brownes were returned, McDonell was short 160 ... there were stones thrown ... the mob of both parties ... Sir Francis [Lynch Blosse] was attacked yesterday morning coming out of Castlebar ... Priest Nolan and Kirby will not be allowed, by their flock to read mass any more, as they voted for Browne ... my cold is much better, but the cough is very severe, I can't sleep at night from it".
