Johnson's letters comprise a set of six biographical letters written by John Johnston (1762-1828), a native of Belfast who left Ireland in 1790 to become a fur trader in the Great Lakes region of North America. The recipient is his son-in-law, geographer/ethnologist Henry R. Schoolcraft, Indian agent at Sault Ste. Marie. They were written in the months before his death in 1821.
