Scope and content
Kerby A. Miller's notes and abstracts of a 12 December 1852 letter written by Irish politician John Blake Dillon, temporarily exiled in New York, to fellow Young Irelander William Smith O'Brien with whom he has not had contact since the failed rebellion of 1848. In addition to extensive observations on Irish and American politics, Dillon notes that his contact with other Young Irelanders was infrequent except for Thomas Francis Meagher. There was no bad feeling between them, however, although Thomas D'Arcy McGee has been 'quietly and silently dropped.'
