Jay Fox (1870-1961) was a journalist, trade unionist, and political activist born in New Jersey to recently-immigrated Irish parents. Fox grew up in Chicago, where he entered labour activism as a teenager and was involved with the Knights of Labor and the Haymarket Riots. Fox also published several anarchist/syndicalist newspapers and periodicals. Fox later became a resident of the anarchist Home Colony on Puget Sound in Washington state while maintaining his activism, and who travel back-and-forth between Washington and Chicago before settling at Home for good in 1919, dabbling in communism before returning to his anarchist beliefs.
