Materials pertaining to James Bradin (also Bredin), the author of an 1887 letter sent from Fort Lyon, Colorado to his parents in Kiltyclogher, County Leitrim discussing life on a Western ranch.
The series includes: transcribed correspondence from letter donor James Bredin (note spelling); a transcript of the 1887 letter; a copy of Bradin’s 1894 discharge papers from the United States Army; a transcript of an 1880s emigration ballad sent by Bredin; the original 1980-1982 correspondence from Bredin including information on the family surname; and a photocopy of the 1887 letter.
