Scope and content

The Hagan letters are a set of 15 letters written by James and Annie Hagan in New York City to their sister Mary Hagan in Dungannon, County Tyrone between 1883 and 1892. The Hagan siblings were property agents for a real estate company in Manhattan; Annie joining her brother there in November 1883. In addition to Kerby A. Miller's transcripts of the Hagan letters, the series includes biographical notes on the Hagans, and research on the estate of a James Hagan (died 1896) in New York provided by genealogist Joseph M. Slimonte (per Miller: 'I don't think the James Hagan who died in 1896 is my letter-writer, but it does not appear that any more research on this fellow is possible').
