Kerby A. Miller created his transcripts of the letters of petition from photocopies of the originals held in the National Archives, Kew [War and Colonial Department and Colonial Office: Emigration Original Correspondence, reference number CO 384].

Materials pertaining to letters of petition made by Irishmen to the British Colonial Office for assistance in emigrating from Ireland to British colonies, particularly Canada, between 1815 and 1844. The series consists of Kerby A. Miller's transcripts, abstracts, and notes on individual petition authors where available, plus Miller's collection of photocopies of individual petitions provided by the National Archives, Kew.
