(With a caption by Éamonn Downey, referring to original documents which differ only in style, and in one marginal comment.)

Also marking that this paper ought to be seen in the light of an Irish Times article (2 August) and a B.B.C. radio programme (4 August), both concerning Denis Bradley and his views.)

Copy typescript message (6 pp, and copy) entitled 'Substantive response' from [British government] to [Sinn Féin], promising to begin talks a week after parliament reconvenes, if certain conditions regarding the ceasefire are met. Attaching firstly a 'procedural annex' on the proposed exploratory talks, and secondly the joint statement of Prime Minister and Taoiseach of 29 October. (With extensive caption and commentary by [Éamonn Downey] partly arising from an interview with Duddy on 10 February 2008; indicating Sinn Féin took this as a de facto response to their 10 May document; discussing at length predicament for them in receiving the 22 February/2 November 'bogus' message only then, and having to justify their own actions before the Provisional Army Council.)
