The letter was written on the occasion of the death of Marie Mortishead and relates to an 'Immediate Annuity Guaranteed 20 Years.' After Maire Mortished death, the 'share of the payments previously paid to the late Marie Mortished will now be paid to Arthur Shields'.

He reiterates the history of his case in a long account.
