Statement (in Turkish with English translation) of lawyer Sedat Aslantaş, Diyarbakır Branch, Human Rights Association, regarding the application of Salih Çetin. Aslantaş notes that when Çetin petitioned the State of Emergency Area Governorship to complain about the destruction of his home, he was instead referred to the Provincial Governorship, who in turn referred him to the Diyarbakır Gendarmerie Regional Command Headquarters, who in turn referred him to the Kulp District Gendarmerie Command Headquarters - the same agency Çetin and Aslantaş hold responsible for the destruction of the hamlet of Derecik. Aslantaş states that this demonstrates the pointlessness of trying to exhaust domestic legal remedies and is why Çetin has no choice but to apply to the European Court of Human Rights.
