Letter to Canon Hayes from Father Gerard Fitzpatrick of Ennis, County Clare, former chaplain of Sean Ross Abbey, Roscrea. The letter follows up on the dispute over the ordering of bagpipes from Michael Keenan (Mícheál Ó Cíanáin) for the new Roscrea pipe band (see P134/1/2/1/1/10/141). Fitzpatrick rejects Hayes' suggestion to go to a solicitor over the matter, stating that he knows 'Keenan is a broken-down merchant but why not give him a further chance to redeem himself?' Fitzpatrick had organised a dance which saw £50 raised toward the purchase of the pipes, but adds that 'we did not fully understand his terms as we do now'.
