Typed playscript of the stage adaptation of the novel 'The Barracks' by John McGahern and adapted by Hugh Leonard for the stage, Presented by Dublin Theatre Festival in association with Gemini Productions and Phyllis Ryan, directed by Tomas Mac Anna. The script is the personal copy of actor and cast member Dermot Ryan. Ryan played the role of Willie in the play. the script is annotated throughout. File also includes a contract made between Gemini Productions/Phyllis Ryan and Maureen Simpson and for the role of Assistant Stage Manager on the production at the Olympia theatre, dated 15 Sep 1969 (Maureen Simpson is daughter of Carolyn Swift and Alan Simpson). Simpson notes that this was her first or second adult theatre job for Phyllis Ryan.
