A group of newspaper cuttings referring to Peter Freyer's presentation to the King and Queen at Brighton in Aug 1915 and to the conferring of the following awards on him, the CB (Jan 1917) and KCB (June 1917), with a handwritten note inscribed 'Entries in London Gazette etc, Duplicates'. Gen Sir William Robertson and Surgeon Gen Sir Alfred Keogh received the GCB in Jan 1917. Includes newspaper cuttings referring to a supplement of the London Gazette announcing names that had been brought to the notice of the Secretary of State for War for distinguished services rendered in connection with the War, includes that of Peter Freyer (July 1917).

From the perspective of a man who sees someone he remembers in a restaurant; he recounts the story of how he met this man to the friend with whom he is dining.
