Holograph letter from Lord Inchiquin, Cork, to [Richard Boyle] Earl of Cork, and draft reply, regarding particularly the distress caused in Bandon. Praising the error made by Dobbyns to send all provisions. He has only enough for one week, and the garrison for one month. Bandon Garrison was relieved by the townspeople, and now Bandon town petitions for a staying of their rent for their own relief. Made exception in removing some victuals to Tristram Whetcomb and Robert Southwell in Kinsale. His and Lord Barrymore's permission given to a certain Roch to export butter. Comments on the tobacco business and the danger of rain. Will send Mayor Appleby to him. With [draft] reply by Earl of Cork: dismissive of Bandonbridge townsmen's giving of relief, since they have been profiting by the neighbouring English tenants, and by those who sought refuge in the town. Describing his own expense from fortifying the town, forfeiting rents, keeping himself and companies at 2 pence per man; mentioning his son Kynalmeaky's death.
