Hardbound notebooks entitled "Miscellaneous notes, books 1-3", containing notes and sketches gathered by G.A. Hayes-McCoy, mainly relating to Irish military affairs, with specific reference to flags, weapons, ships, military strategy. Including press-cuttings (pasted) and correspondence, with a letter from the Keeper at Belfast Museum & Art Gallery, about a battle-axe known as the "Galway Cracker"; also a note from Mary Purcell with a poem by Hugo Doak, "Tolka River", and a humorous rhyming poem by [G.A. Hayes-McCoy] entitled "An argument for education". With an index for books one and two. Some loose notes on artillery, the Scots hired by Hugh O'Neill, and other matters.
