Handwritten notes which according to inscription were written by S. to L. (Republican Leadership?) The notes outline the political situation and analyse the British position. According to the notes the British had a strong desire to leave Northern Ireland but did not want to be shown up to the world, as leaving a "Congo" behind.' The notes also state that internal British politics and the Labour Party Government's weak position in Westminster were influencing the British Government's position. According to the notes 'Nothing that happens in N. Ireland - Civil War included can equal the desire of the Labour Party to stay in power in England.'
