Handwritten draft of 'A Note on the Stories' for My Love My Umbrella an Opera production based on 'My Love, My Umbrella', 'Sierra Leone' and 'Gold Watch'; begins 'These three stories were all written as love stories and even be described as changing versions of the same story.' The Opera was by Kevin O'Connell with a Libretto by James Conway. The opera was commissioned by Eastern Touring Agency, Opera Theatre Company Dublin and Year of Opera and Musical Theatre 1997 in the East of England. It was first performed on 9 October 1997 in the Stamford Arts Centre, Stamford, England. The first Irish performance was on 31 October 1997 at the Samuel Beckett Centre, Dublin.
