Scope and content

Materials pertaining to 10 letters written by or to Irish emigrants James Norris and Cathy Greene. James Norris [alternatively 'Greene' in Miller's early research], writing between 1902 and 1939, emigrated to Quebec and became a priest. Cathy Greene, writing to her mother from Brooklyn in 1884, writes that her circumstances are bad, being out of work and full of anxiety borne of intense loneliness. The series consists of drafts of typed transcripts for the letters and photocopies of the original letters.
