Scope and content
File of records regarding the rehearsed reading of Thomas Kilroy's play My Scandalous Life (two acts), on the Peacock stage (Abbey Theatre), Dublin, on 3 December 2000. Commissioned by Trinity College, Dublin, for their Oscar Wilde Centre, and a conference held there. Directed by [David Parnell]; starring [Mark Lambert]. Comprising a script for the reading; correspondence with Ben Barnes, Abbey Theatre, literary agent Tom Erhardt, director Max Stafford-Clarke, actor Simon Callow, academics Nicholas Grene and Gerard Dawe, who comment on the script. Including a statement by Kilroy that lists director and actor (undated), and calls this a "companion piece" to his play about Constance Wilde, stating that "like it, it is an exploration of family privacies behind the very public Wilde story". Also including a letter from Kilroy to Ben Barnes, stating "I feel its full life, if it ever has one, will be across the water" (26 September 2000). [The script is paginated 1-43.]
