(With a gap between October 1966 and September 1986, after that only sporadic.) Discussing his writing (the process and content) and until 1966 also regularly enclosing poems, including some of the "Reilly" series, translations from Italian, sonnets, and a poem entitled "Friendship" with Kilroy in mind (22 June 2002). [Some of the poems enclosed are separate with other writers' scripts.] Discussing his early plans (when in Rome) to issue a literary broadsheet; in 1959 involved with the new Transatlantic Review ; enclosing cuttings from the Roman Daily American . Discussing nature of art, current literary movements; brief mentions of Kilroy's own aspirations and work: in 1998 encouraging a translation of The Secret Fall of Constance Wilde into Italian. Mentioning and discussing literary colleagues, including Augustine "Gus" Martin, Mary Lavin, Ezra Pound, [Thomas] Kinsella, Richard Ellman. On his choice to leave Ireland, offering that "the possibility of a literary movement of importance that would result in universal acclaim is probably the only thing that would persuade me to live in Ireland" (13 February 1957). Good wishes on Kilroy's impending marriage "It is truly the most important and vital state for man's success as an immortal, the state of man and woman living together in love" (29 May 1963).
