File of handwritten and typescript documents focussing on a handwritten document from Sinn Féin [either by McGuinness or by Bradley] of 10 May which tacitly offers the private assurance the British have been seeking, in order 'to proceed without delay to the delegation meetings' [i.e. offering the British a ceasefire]. Extensive commentary by [Éamonn Downey] on its authorship, Delivery, and other points contained; it was delivered to James and David in London by Brendan Duddy on 11 May, while consciously omitting a paragraph where Sinn Féin caution the ceasefire may be only of a short duration.
