Scope and content
Materials pertaining to the Dennis Harry Sullivan letters, which consists of two letters written by Sullivan in Chicago to a friend, George Lavery in St. Louis Missouri in 1913 and 1917. Per Kerby A. Miller: 'Dennis Harry Sullivan and George Lavery were neighbors and school chums in the National School at Derreendarragh, which was taught for many decades by Lavery's father, John Lavery. We do not know when they emigrated (probably in the 1880s or 1890s), but in 1913-1914 they were still corresponding with one another in the U.S., Lavery from St. Louis and Sullivan from Chicago.'
The series contains: typed transcripts of the letters; photocopies of the original letters; Kerby A. Miller's correspondence with Sullivan family relatives; census research; Bruce D. Boling's biographical research and information; and Miller's research notes.
