Daybook kept by [Brendan Duddy and his employees] to record turnover in Duddy's 7-day William Street business [chip van]. Marking day and night earnings and weekly total earnings, with brief comments on the day's conditions for business, including entries on public events beginning in June 1970; few family matters. Riots affecting him indirectly (e.g. keeping business closed for days or weekends) and directly (break-in 17 March 1971); closing in mourning for three days following the march 30 January 1972. Last entries (April - July 1972) sporadic, marked by increased violence and bad business.
