Scope and content

Materials pertaining to five letters written between 1883 and 1907 by members of the Creedon-Nolan family in Pleasant Valley (now Avoca) Pennsylvania to Catherine Sheehan (née Creedon) in Burnfort, County Cork. The series consists of the 1977 letter of donation from Humphrey Twomey (great-grandson of Catherine Sheehan), Twomey’s biographical notes on the Creedon family, and Twomey’s transcripts of the five Creedon letters. Sheehan was the only family member not to emigrate to Pleasant Valley, likely because her husband was too elderly to emigrate; she died in 1917 having long lost contact with her family in America.
