Reproduction and transcript of a letter written by County Down emigrant John Gore, then living in Los Angeles, in 1977 to Annie Roycroft, former editor of the County Down Spectator. Gore mentions working with the News Chronicle for 6 years and refers to having worked at ‘the Spectator’ [County Down Spectator] before emigrating. Gore gives details about his U.S. citizenship ceremony, hosted at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, ‘which is more famous as the site of the annual Oscar Awards.’ Also included is the forwarding letter to Kerby A. Miller, Miller’s brief biographical notes on Gore, and another 1977 emigrant letter sent to Roycroft by Peter Gibson of Calgary, Alberta.
