Correspondence between John Fleming, editor of "the Gaelic Journal" and Stephen Barrett, mainly in relation to his subscription to the journal as well as his learning of Irish. Fleming was a native of Clonea, near Carrick-on-Suir and was a native Irish speaker. He taught at Rathgormack National School for about twenty years before taking over the editorship of the "Gaelic Journal" in 1882, remaining as editor until his death in 1895. He also taught Irish to a number of people who were to become leading figures in the Gaelic League, including Stiophán Bairéad.
