Copy of typescript communiqué from [Sinn Féin] to [British government], in thanks for document (one of the two now attached), [post-15 December 1993]. Welcoming sincere attempts to ensure self- determination for the people of Ireland, wondering whether the joint declaration is based on an actual programme with that in view. Stating that the present line of communication is insufficient to proceed further in finding agreement on points found ambiguous in the document and suggesting meetings of nominees for redrafting it. Enclosing two abridged versions of the 'Downing Street Declaration', one entitled 'A strategy for peace and justice in Ireland'.
