Dr. Arnold Schrier collected the Carrothers Letters and later shared them with his collaborator, Kerby A. Miller, from which Miller created his transcripts. Additionally, E.R.R. Green, another primary collaborator of Miller, received a bound set of typed transcripts from Edward Norman Carrothers of Belfast, grandnephew of the Carrothers brothers, on 1 December 1954, and later shared these transcripts with Miller. These transcripts were self-published by Carrothers as Irish Emigrants' Letters from Canada 1839-1870 (August 1951). Photocopies of the letters are also deposited in PRONI in multiple formats [reference numbers T1886, T1888, T3440/1, and D2784/16].

Scope and content
The Carrothers family letters are a set of 20 letters written by members of the Carrothers family (particularly Nathaniel and Joseph), who emigrated from Lisbellaw, County Fermanagh to London, Ontario, to their family back home between 1839 and 1870. Nathaniel Carrothers (1796-1881) emigrated in 1835, first working as a carpenter in London before settling on a farm in nearby Westminster Township (now a neighbourhood in the city of London). Numerous cousins and brothers followed him to Westminster, including Joseph in 1847.
The series consists of: Ashton D.C. Carrothers’ biographical notes on the Carrothers family; Kerby A. Miller’s transcripts of the letters; 1996 correspondence between E.R.R. Green and Edward Norman Carrothers, and bound and photocopied versions of Edward Norman Carrothers’ Irish Emigrants' Letters from Canada 1839-1870 (August 1951) containing his transcripts of the letters.
