Scope and content
The Beatty letters consist of a sequence of letters written between members of the Beatty family in Canada and Ireland. Kerby A. Miller notes: 'These letters were sent to E.R.R. Green in May 1963, by Miss I. Embleton of the Ulster-Scot Historical Society, Belfast [...] The Beatty family had settled in Corlough, Aghalurcher parish, Co. Fermanagh, in the early 18th century. The following letters were all written to Thomas Beatty, probably then living in Toronto, by his brothers in New York, New Jersey, or Derrylornan, Brookboro, Co. Fermanagh.'
The series includes: Miller's typed transcripts of two of the letters along with abstracts for the others; photocopies of the original letters; and a photocopy of a letter from Embleton of the Ulster-Scot Historical Society to Green along with his response.
