Articles and reports originally compiled in a binder by the Essex team that were used as background materials for Kurdish Litigation Project cases, in particular articles on conscientious objection which were latter submitted as appendices in the case of conscientious objector Osman Murat Ülke (A44/43/1/59); some amount of printed emails pertaining to Ülke are also present. A small amount of materials pertinent to the case of Mehmet Gül (A44/43/1/32) are also present. The front of the file contains a translation of the Human Rights Association's list of villages forcibly evacuated in southeast Turkey during May-July 1993, and a published copy of Council of Europe Committee Interim Resolution DH (99) 434 adopted on 9 June 1999 calling on Turkey to reform training of its security forces after serious violations of human rights by Turkish security forces were found across multiple Kurdish litigation cases.
