Scope and content
This file consists of flyers, manifestos, correspondence and other material relating to policies on the Irish language, and the use of Irish in election publicity material by The Green Party, Democratic Left, The Progressive Democrats and Independent TD Tony Gregory.
[Archivist’s Note 1: In 1992, following a failed attempt to change the constitution of the Workers’ Party, a significant minority left the party to form the Democratic Left. This short-lived party in turn merged with Labour in 1999.
Archivist’s Note 2: The Progressive Democrats Party was launched in 1985 by Desmond O’Malley and other politicians who had left both Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael. It officially dissolved in 2009.]
