Scope and content

Typed copy of Canon Hayes' address at Lucan Spa Hotel, County Dublin, during the Rural Week-End organised by the Dublin Auxiliary Guild of Muintir na Tíre, 5 February 1956. Canon Hayes notes that it is the Silver Jubilee of Pope Pius XI's encyclical "Quadragesimo anno" (in which the Pope notes the major dangers for human freedom and dignity arising from unrestrained capitalism, from socialism, and from communism as practised in Russia) and ties the message of encyclical to the mission of Muintir na Tíre and the Apostolic Letter the organisation received in 1954.
