Scope and content

Top quarter of a four-page letter from Richard Le P Trench, 52nd L[ight] T[roop], Halifax, [Nova Scotia] to his mother, thanking her for her letters. He is glad to hear 'so good an account of Bob' and 'your account of Louisa's match is very pleasing'. He hopes to hear soon that Louisa's and Rosetta's marriages have taken place. [His sister Louisa married her cousin Rev. William Le Poer Trench on 26 Dec 1830] He writes of Halifax 'This is certainly a very cheerful place & I like the society very much, it is so like what one w[oul]d meet in a large Irish town; the people are very good natured, free & unaffected in their manners'.
