Apologises for not writing sooner and is grateful for the frequent letters she gets from 'Mamie', O'Shaughnessy's wife. Mentions John's marriage to Minnie Liston, and mentions her relationship with 'J H' has fallen through, "he has given up all hopes of father's consent to a connection between us", she mentions her own earlier hesitation with the relationship. She writes of her intention to go to Colorado, and her frustrations with their father. Mentions Michael Moloney is considering contesting a "seat in House and means to stand for W. Clare". Speaks frankly about John's drinking, mentions her bad relationship with Ellie (a sister?) and updates on their other sister, Maria.
