TitleCopy of speech by Douglas Hyde
DescriptionPrinted copy of the “direct” speech by Douglas Hyde to the Business Committee of the Gaelic League on why the organisation should remain non-political. At the organisation’s Ard Fheis in Dundalk the objective of working for a free Ireland from foreign rule was passed, and Douglas Hyde declined to be re-elected as President of the League on the grounds that it was now politicised.
